2022 Verdejo, Javier Ruiz, DOC Rueda

2022 JAVIER RUIZ VERDEJO, DOC RUEDA, SPAIN: 100% verdejo. 13.0% Vol.

Vineyard location: Villaneuva de Duero.

Terroir: the soil is poor, sandy and rocky but very permeable.

The process of elaboration commences with night harvesting to preserve the freshness of the fruit. Alcoholic fermentation was conducted at controlled temperatures  in stainless steel tanks with constant pumping over to extract the full aromas and tastes of the Verdejo varietal.  Cold pre fermentation and ageing on the lees continues for a minimum of 3 months.

The wine is bright straw with greenish nuances with a very aromatic nose. The palate is redolent of exotic fruits and with citrus notes. It has balanced acidity with some bitterness associated with the varietal.

The wine is perfect as a fresh aperitif but also goes  well with seafood, cheese and salad dishes.
