Bodegas Solar de Samaniego was founded in 1972 at the foot of the medieval town of Laguardia, in the heart of the Rioja Alavesa, sheltered under the DOCa. Rioja. The property thus recovered its Rioja roots with the desire to unite the history and tradition of a land where wine is the protagonist. Over the last few decades, it has established itself as one of the main wineries in this wine-growing area of internationally recognized quality.
In 2015, a series of important interventions began in the facilities of our Solar de Samaniego wineries in order to completely renovate the winemaking and ageing areas, preserving the heritage relevance of its industrial architecture. An enhancement of the traditional production of Rioja in concrete tanks that provides a great differential value, together with a recovery of great interest through a contemporary look. All this in collaboration with architects, landscape designers, interior designers, engineers, artists, writers and designers, which allows us to proudly display an imposing Rioja wine winemaking and ageing facility from the early 70s adapted to 21st century technology.
Since 2018 he has collaborated with the UNESCO Chair of Cultural Landscapes and Heritage in the integration of the winery into the landscape of Laguardia, he has created a unique and singular wine tourism experience thanks to the recovery of the Espacio Medio Millón with the murals of Guido Van Helten as well as inside the shop/library, in the dining room of the Brotherhood and the library of estates, all inspired by Beber Entre Líneas, a project that fuses the cultures of wine and literature. This project was born from the historic La Escobosa estate, a wine-growing property since the seventeenth century of the family of Félix María de Samaniego, a famous writer of fables, a native of the town of Laguardia.
