Lerma Seleccion, DO Arlanza, Bodegas Lerma: 100% Tempranillo: 14.5% Vol:

Harvested from vines in excess of 80 years old on a pebbly soil on south facing slopes. The grapes are slightly over-ripened and, after hand harvesting in 15kg boxes, are hand selected and de-stemmed and stored in small stainless steel tanks. The grapes are stabilised for 5 days in cold conditions before fermentation at a temperature no higher than 27 degrees C. A second fermentation on the lees takes place in french oak barrels. The wine is left on the lees for 14 months and then, after non-mechanical decanting is returned to the barrels for natural stabilisation:  The wine produced has an intense bright cherry colour and, on the nose, toasted aromas and hints of coffee from the oak barrels. Smooth and lingering on the palate the wine is full bodied with fruit redolent of blackcurrant.,
